For those belonging to
fabrication and manufacturing industries equipment belonging to the CNC
category is a daily thing although CNC sounds foreign to most of us. Used since
the 1970's at the onset of computers, CNC stands for Computer Numerical
Control.
Except that when it was first
introduced it was first called only NC or numerical control that is how it got
its name. The Belt Sanders are also
quite useful.
Reducing wastage and production
time and resulting to increased production efficiency, The CNC in a certain
fabrication process is programmed to reduce manual intervention. To illustrate
this, using a drill press the operator is required to manually bore hole on the
metal for metal preparation using conventional tools.
But he has to select the desired
speed for rotation of the drill press, secure the metal in place, and manually
drive the drill into the metal by activating the spindle before he can do it. Accidents
are bound to happen at each step of the process and that takes a lot of errors and
steps.
All these work for the operator
are simplified by the CNC machine. He only has to set the controls, activate
the spindle, position the metal in its place and the machine does the rest with
the CNC equivalent of the drill press.
It is the automated ways of doing
things. With CNC machines everything
that an operator is required to do with the conventional machine tools is
programmable.
Being able to produce accurate and
consistent work pieces is another advantage of a CNC machine. In a short span
of time, the CNC machine can produce thousands of identical pieces once the programming
controls had been set. If done manually, this is almost impossible.
CNC machines can be some tools
that we encounter as we do about our respective businesses without us knowing
it. The use of these machines is in large range endeavors as well apart from
being used in the metal industry. Especially
for those that require mass production of articles, it is used.
Conclusion
To
meet these demands the need for producers becomes more urgent as the demand increases.
But production processes are made safer, faster and easier with CNC machines.
